Ahamad Azawwi goes well in Iraqi Premier League

イラクプレミアリーグでプレーするアハマド・アザウィという選手がいます。

あまり日本ではニュースになっていないかもしれませんが、日本育ちのイラク人選手が中東に位置する国のトップリーグでプレーするというケースは極めて稀だと思います。

​何よりも日本でプロ経験を踏まず、大卒後オーストラリアのセミプロ(豪2部相当でリーグMVP/得点王)、フィリピンのプロリーグ(ACL予選でゴール)、そして祖国イラクのトップリーグに移籍していった彼の経歴は、成り上がりと形容しても良いかもしれません。

アハマド選手の目標は兼ねてからイラク代表でプレーする事で、日本の大学リーグで当時無名に近い状態だった頃もその目標を忘れることはなかったと言っていました。とはいえ大学サッカーで活躍しなければJリーグは普通行けない訳で、彼なりの逆算と冒険心、そして決断力で今の立ち位置の基盤を作る事が出来たと言えるでしょう。

​現在のクラブのチームメイトや対戦相手からイラク代表選手が選出される現場レベルで、アハマド選手は毎週スタメンを争って試合に出場しています。かつてはイラクの年代別代表からも声がかかるなど、たった1試合の活躍でもう一つ上のレベルから呼ばれるスリリングな世界がイラクや恐らく多くの海外サッカーにはあると思います。 イラクで4シーズン目を終え、束の間のオフに入りますが、来季に向けてまた良い準備をして欲しいと思います。

Ahamad Azzwi who plays for Al Kahraba FC has just completed his 4th season in Iraqi Premier League. Ahamad plays as attacking midfield or defensive midfield with excellent technical ability.

Ahamad was born in Iraqi parents in Japan. He spent majority of his life and junior-youth football in Japan before he decided go to overseas to play professionally, however Ahamad is eligible to play for Iraq as his home country.

​Ahamad has been dreaming to play for Iraqi National Team while he was growing up in Japan. And now he plays in the top league in his home country. A couple of his team mates have been called up by Iraqi National Team playing for the country. Ahamad is usually competing starting XI positions with these players. We see that his dream/target doesn't look too far.
